“Based on Larry Mitchell’s cult novel from the late 70s, Philip Venables and Ted Huffman have created a wild musical spectacle that ignores boundaries just like the characters on stage do, drawing on music and dance from the Baroque period, from Broadway and rave culture. The performers are actors, storytellers and musicians all rolled into one and are continually swapping roles. A musical adventure that does away with gender and genre norms, replacing them with individuality and lust for life.”
Displaced: A Woolwich Arsenal Opera
Lauren will sing the role of Annie in this second development performance of Displaced at Woolwich Works.
“In the shadow of international unrest, the increasingly militant Suffragettes plan an attack which could change the history of Woolwich Arsenal FC forever. Annie is a football fan, and a Suffragette. Francis is a munitions factory worker, and a father. William is a Scottish immigrant and a professional footballer. When ruthless businessman Henry Norris buys ailing Woolwich Arsenal FC and attempts to displace the club north of the river, the intertwined lives of these three Woolwich residents take a dramatic turn.”
